Premier Ford told reporters at a briefing on Thursday afternoon (October 1st, 2020) that his government will give 147,000 eligible personal support workers a $2-3 an hour raise, beginning today and lasting until March 2021.

He said the premium is both a reward for the work that personal support workers have done already, as well as an acknowledgement of the fact that when it comes to COVID-19 “some of the toughest days lay ahead.”

While this wage enhancement will help many PSWs - it excludes many as well including those in the retirement home sector and non-public funded home and community care.

It also doesn't take account of the financial toll that many PSWs have already experienced after being limited to one workplace. In the coming days, we will be engaging with the government about this policy and advocating for additional support for ALL PSWs.

All frontline workers including Nurses are welcome, and invited to participate.

Through our networking and resources, we have the potential to make a real and positive change in the health care industry by asking those who know it best (yet get asked the least) about what is going on in real-time, what they need most, and what changes will be the most beneficial to them, and the ones they care for.

We are giving PSWs the voice they don't have. And it's coming directly from THEM.

This is one of our key areas of focus here at The Canadian PPE Network, and a source of much success for our Non-Profit Organization.

This survey was instrumental in a Mental Health Round Table we were exclusively invited to by MPP Logan Kanapathi & Minister of Addictions, The Hon. Michael Tibollo. 

We evaluate our success in this field by gathering qualitative and quantitative data, and using that information to measure what supports and resources are needed for PSWs and frontline workers.
